Product Highlight: Limestrong Artisan Plaster
At Sustain, we do a lot of plastering. Like, a LOT of plastering. The kinds of plaster we install vary greatly in terms of the materials that they’re made out of, but the basic formula is mostly the same. Lime (or clay), aggregate (usually sand), pigment (for color), and water (not for drinking). This combination has been used for thousands and thousands of years to create beautiful wall finishes and works of art. And our friends, the folks over at Limestrong Artisan, have taken this age-old combination to the next level with their new line of products.
After years of research and trial-and-error, Limestong founder Ryan Chivers came up with a unique approach to the formula we have been using for millennia. After finding that many of the materials required for traditional plaster came from overseas (which cost a lot to ship here, not to mention the environmental impact), he resolved to create his own plasters using materials that can be sourced and processed closer to home. The result is a lime-pumice plaster that is made in the US, cutting down on processing and shipping costs. Even better? All of the materials used are non-toxic and generate zero waste.
